At times, partner violence reaches severe heights that require legal recourse. An official court issued restraining order can be of great comfort to a victim fearing for her or his safety. However, navigating the family court system alone can be difficult and overwhelming. The North County Women’s Shelter provides domestic violence victims with a trained, dedicated Legal Advocate to help them obtain court ordered safety through a Temporary Restraining Order. The agency supplies victims with assistance completing TRO forms and paperwork, and can answer all questions surrounding the TRO process. Advocates are also available to accompany victims to legal hearings and offer comfort during stressful court appearances.
